

Vijay N. Hingorani, M.D., Ph.D.
Vijay Hingorani is a board certified physician (Neurology) and scientist with pharmaceutical industry experience as medical director and senior medical director at specialty pharmaceutical companies (Avera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Santarus, Inc.), a biotechnology company (Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc.) and a contract research organization (Quintiles, Inc.). He has hands on experience in the design, conduct, and monitoring of Phase I-III clinical trials in numerous indications including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, migraine, chronic pain, ALS, epilepsy, ADHD, stroke, multiple sclerosis, degenerative disc disease, sleep disorders, brain tumors, solid tumors, depression, anxiety, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and GI disorders. He also has fellowship training in Clinical Pharmacology with significant experience in bringing molecules from the laboratory, through pre-clinical development, and into first-in-man studies. He is experienced in PK/PD studies for numerous indications. Since joining SPCI, Dr. Hingorani has played a key role for several Southern California biotechnology companies in development of both biologics and small molecules for cancer. This has included providing strategic advice to company Boards of Directors, as well as protocol design and medical monitoring in oncologic indications ranging from GBM to lung cancer to renal and ovarian tumors, and involving compounds including vascular targeting agents, monoclonal antibodies and epidermal growth factor antagonists. He was co-author with Dr. Kittrelle of the Integrated Summary of Safety for a recent Biologics Licensing Application for a monoclonal antibody anti-tumor agent that was approved by the FDA for marketing six months after BLA submission.

Dr. Hingorani has also been a clinical investigator for numerous industry-sponsored clinical trials including principal investigator on trials in CNS disorders and chronic pain. In addition to serving as a consultant for SPCI, he is a principal with Diligence Consulting, a firm that provides scientific and clinical due diligence services for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries.

Dr. Hingorani received a B.A. in chemistry and an M.S. in organic chemistry from Northwestern University. He received his M.D. and a Ph.D. in biological chemistry from the University of Illinois in Chicago. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in neurology at the University of Arizona where he also served as chief resident.
